1 Bedroom Flat Concept

A concept I’ve been working on in between current projects. A few months ago, I surveyed an existing two-storey shed in Galway and started exploring how the space could potentially be transformed into a compact one-bedroom Airbnb.

The main idea behind the concept was to keep the intervention and therefore the cost as low as possible. The existing kitchen, bathroom and staircase locations were retained, avoiding unnecessary structural or service changes.

Plywood became the main material throughout the interior, creating a simple, consistent and cost-effective finish across the walls, kitchen, stairs and bathroom.

I enjoy working on side projects like this between live jobs. It gives me the freedom to experiment with layouts, materials and ideas, see what works (and what doesn’t), and let the design develop naturally.
